WWE NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov vs. Trick Williams was booked at this year’s WWE NXT Vengeance Day premium live event from the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, TN. The following is the play-by-play coverage of the match:

Just a few minutes in, both guys were bleeding as Dragunov had blood coming from his nose and Williams from his mouth. Dragunov with a series of german suplexes. Dragunov with a suplex on the apron. Trick fired back with forearm shots before Dragunov hit a powerbomb. Trick caught him with a head kick then a codebreaker. Trick with a slam on the floor off the apron. Hayes talked trash to Dragunov and mixed it up with Dragunov hitting Hayes in the back and Hayes taking out Trick’s leg by accident. Back in the ring, Trick hit a neck breaker. Dragunov with a powerbomb and an h-bomb once back in the ring. Dragunov with an h-bomb off the middle rope for 2. Trick avoided a move and hit a big boot for 2. Trick accident knocked down the referee and Hayes before hitting a running knee strike. The crowd was behind Williams strongly. Another referee ran down and counted a 2 fall. Dragunov went for an h-bomb off the top rope, but Trick put up the knees. Dragunov with an uppercut for the win as Trick was going for his running knee strike. Post-match, Hayes turned on Williams by attacking him with a chair several times.

Winner: Ilja Dragunov
