We cashed both of our plus-money SGPs yesterday in the NHL, and if a streak wanted to start building, we're here for it.
There are just three games tonight in hockey, but a few of the home teams look primed to pile on a few goals. Here's who we like to be involved.
The Rangers seem to be in a better spot here at home tonight against Tampa Bay. New York played on Monday, a big come-from-behind win over Colorado, and those fresh legs should serve them well here. The Lightning haven't played since Jan. 27, and some rust mixed with a slow start would be understandable.
The past two times these teams have squared off, it's been the Rangers pouring on goals, winning 5-1 at the end of December and grabbing a 6-3 win last April.
Andrei Vasilevskiy has struggled in net when playing at MSG, allowing 3+ goals in eight of nine career starts in New York.
With our read established, the natural combo to turn to is Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad on New York's top line.
Kreider has nine points in the last six home games against Tampa Bay, and Zibanejad has 11 in the same span.
The Toronto end seems to be the right look here for goals, hosting Dallas who is playing their second game in as many nights. The Stars have allowed 3+ goals in five of six back-to-backs this year, a trend we'd happily allow to continue here.
Scott Wedgewood is in net for Dallas, who has struggled against Toronto, allowing 4.0 goals/game across his last five starts. The Stars as a whole tend to have issues against the Maple Leafs, as they've let in 3+ goals in 15 of the past 17 meetings, with 4+ goals scored in 11 of those games.
I prefer the combo of these two on Toronto's second line. Tavares had two points on Monday, and he's recored a point in 10 of his past 13 meetings with the Stars, piling up 14 total. Nylander has been strangely quiet over the past 10 games, but he did tally an assist on Monday and has recorded an apple in 74% of his home games this season. He has an assist in five of his past six games against Dallas.
