Nebraska football hasn’t been very active in the transfer portal. In the winter window, the Huskers made a few additions, but their main focus was keeping their own roster intact.
It worked out beautifully as Nebraska football didn’t lose a single starting-caliber player to the transfer portal. There were some departures but none that stung.
However, Nebraska football still has some needs. Specifically, the Huskers need a cornerback opposite of Tommi Hill. Malcolm Hartzog is a quality cornerback but he was more of a hybrid cornerback/safety and that’s probably his best position moving forward.
Byle Hill was the perfect option. The rising sophomore played and started in the FCS last season. Matt Rhule said that he was in line to start before Hill suffered an injury during the Nebraska football spring game. Nebraska got good news as Rhule said on Saturday that Hill will return this fall for Nebraska.
Still, you can never have enough quality depth. With all the passing nowadays, that’s even more true than it used to be. Nebraska football also had plenty of injuries last season so it makes sense that the Huskers would try to fortify their depth chart with a proven starter.

Terrance Brooks, a transfer portal cornerback who started 19 games for Texas over the past two seasons, has been contacted by the Huskers according to Hayes Fawcett. It shows that Nebraska is interested in cornerbacks.
As far as Brooks, he would be a stellar addition. He notched three interceptions and six breakups earning honorable mention All-Big 12. However, as Fawcett reports, 27 schools have offered Brooks. Landing him won’t be easy but the Nebraska football defense would be even better if it did.
